Licensing surgical video: your questions, answered.
Can I license an existing surgical video archive?
Operavue welcomes inquiries about existing open, laparoscopic, robotic, endoscopic, and microscopic surgical video. We assess recordings against a buyer’s research requirements, image quality, available context, and licensing permissions. Existing footage does not need to be stereoscopic.
Who can authorize a surgical data partnership?
Start with the organization or person authorized to license the recordings. A surgeon’s involvement in a procedure does not by itself establish ownership of the video. We work with the relevant rights holders and institutional teams to define permissions, privacy requirements, and permitted uses.
How do minimum guarantees and revenue sharing work?
Qualifying partnerships can combine an agreed minimum payment commitment with a share of licensing revenue. The agreement defines accepted deliverables, payment timing, reporting, and whether the guarantee is additional to revenue sharing or an advance against it. Terms are negotiated for each project.
What should I include in a first inquiry?
Describe the procedures, approximate number of recordings, capture format, country, and your role in the permissions process. A high-level description is enough to start. Do not send patient information or surgical footage through this website; any later transfer is arranged separately.
